I have told many people that if you check out my blog, it will look like I died about six months ago. No posts, no updates, nada. If you’ve checked out the Tilt Photography facebook page, there’s a little more evidence of life. If you come to my home, you’ll find me very much alive (though sleep deprived). Life is good, and I am so thankful for the abundance of blessings that surround me.

Firstly, I am thankful for the addition of our sweet baby girl, born three months ago.  I have tried to soak up every minute with her- not wishing for time to go by more quickly, even the sleepless nights are a blessing with her.  She is our fourth girl and fifth child.  We are completely enamored by her amazing presence.  The other day I asked my hubby if he’d hold her so I could get up and do something, and he said, “won’t she be okay laying on a blanket?”  I responded, “I don’t want to miss any time with her- as long as I cuddle her tight she won’t grow up too fast.”  I suppose it is a good thing she continues growing, but I don’t want to waste a precious minute.

Her birth announcement featured our little mermaid in a beautiful watery scene, after all, she was born a swimmer.  This time around we decided to have a home birth with a midwife and I was able to have the amazing, peaceful water birth I had hoped for.  It was made even more precious with having my dear friend and amazing photographer Britt present to capture the experience through her lens.  Without further ado, I introduce our little mermaid baby:

My older children have really embraced our baby doll.  My four year old son said tonight while playing Lego Star Wars (on the Wii) with his Daddy, “I can be the girl (Princess Leia) because I like girl’s ’cause CJ’s a girl.”  This boy is nearly five and is the best brother four sisters could have!

So- in the coming weeks you will hopefully see more life surfacing on the blog, as well as some exciting pretty features and beautiful faces who’ve been “underblogged.”  I’ve enjoyed a very busy fall photographing some fabulous people- and I am now busy at work designing custom greeting cards and wall galleries in time for the holidays.  Like I said, I don’t like to waste time.  I honestly haven’t been bored since I was a teenager- when the creative juices get flowing I can hardly justify sleeping! :)

The Man of the House

October 1st, 2010

How do I pass up a spontaneous session in my  bedroom while I was in the middle of folding laundry? My sweet W. came in to my room and asked, “Mom will you take some “cool” pictures of me?” So I took out my small point and shoot camera and he said, “No mom, I […]

How do I pass up a spontaneous session in my  bedroom while I was in the middle of folding laundry?

My sweet W. came in to my room and asked, “Mom will you take some “cool” pictures of me?” So I took out my small point and shoot camera and he said, “No mom, I want you to use your fancy, big camera!”

So here’s a few of my favorites-

*this was his “cool face” he kept doing- it cracked me up!

A wonderful and long time client honored me with the privilege of capturing this collection of images of  her newborn son.  He’s just as tiny and perfect as can be, and is a wonderful match to his beautiful family (remember them here and here?) I’m sure he’s already grown and looking less like a newborn these days.  Meet the teeny, tiny, handsome Mr. C!

To the L family- I am SO excited for you as you welcome this precious son into your family. It was so fun to do your newborn session in your home- thank you again for trusting me to capture these images!

It is always fun when our press printed products are delivered.  Usually the highly anticipated colorful gems are for our clients, but today this order was for us!  Introducing our new rep cards . . .  though I have chosen to use this batch as my business cards since they are so colorful and shimmery and I’ve got 30 different images to choose from!  They are sized a bit smaller than business cards, with rounded corners and feature two sided printing.  They come with a shiny little metal tin that is equally fun to behold.

Custom Collage on Canvas (the “3 C’s” of gift giving)

When my hubby and I were engaged and shopping for wedding rings, the jeweler taught us about diamonds. “Look for the three C’s: color, cut & clarity” he said. We didn’t really know the difference so we just tried our best to pick the prettiest gem that sparkled and also fit the budget of one full-time college student and one second year art teacher. Mission accomplished.

If you’re looking for a great gift idea that fits the budget, consider again the 3 C’s. Our gallery wrapped canvases are amazing in color, cut & clarity . . . and the custom design will ensure that every one of your favorite photos from our session can find a place on your wall. The canvases arrive ready to hang on your wall, and are lightweight enough to be safely hung on any wall in your home, even over baby’s crib. Our canvases are available in nearly any size you need . . . we are currently printing one that is 48″ wide (we’ll show pics of the finished product!) The gallery wraps represent a classic yet modern style, are 1.5″ thick and have a protective UV coating.

Here’s an example of a current design currently being produced through our professional lab. This is a surprise for grandma & grandpa- don’t you think they’ll love to have pictures of their grandchildren so beautifully displayed?

I was so excited for the opportunity to work with the G. family again to photograph the newest addition to their  family!  Their faces may be familiar to you if you have previously visited our website as they are pictured in our baby gallery with their first son.  We had an adventurous time in bringing big brother and baby brother together (in the same shot)! The G. fam wanted a more contemporary look for their portraits, so we mostly stuck with a monocromatic color scheme: gray background, white/ black shirts. The look is sleek and modern, yet timeless.  Enjoy the sneek peak!

E & K- I hope you love the images–you two have a beautiful family!
