Did you feel the crisp bit of chill in the air this morning? Are you sending the kids off to school? Packing away the summer clothes yet? Yes folks, it is that time again. Time for family pictures before the weather turns south and we get snowed in!

We enjoyed a rather spontaneous family outing to Big Cottonwood Canyon last Friday . . . we planned on taking a few pictures up there, but ended up taking a ton. We even took a few of a bull moose! The light was gorgeous, the wildflowers were still hanging in there (despite a dusting of snow the day previous!), and most of all, my family was lovely and cooperative to allow me the time to set up my off-camera flash and such. I love these people- they are the reason why I feel photos are so important. I cherish photos of my family, especially as my kids are growing and changing so quickly. My oldest will be getting braces, just got a major haircut and starts third grade this week. My second daughter just got bangs cut, and is looking forward to her first day of first grade and school lunch- where did the time go? My little buddy starts preschool next week . . . he can hardly wait to take his “Lightening McQueen” backpack. My baby did a “test run” at church nursery yesterday- though she’s still two months shy of eligible age. She loved sitting in the little chairs and eating raisins and animal crackers. She wasn’t too keen on other toddlers in her personal space, but did love “people watching.”

{Just a few things that come to mind after meeting the lovely Miss T. and photographing her post-high school session before she leaves for basic training.}

This session was fabulous fun!  T. and her Mother trusted me as I led them through the countryside to find the perfect setting for our session.  The early evening light was warm and golden.  T. was game for some fun shots and could flash a sultry glance at the drop of a hat.  Some of my favorite shots are out in the tall grass- the setting was just perfect to go along with her expression and T’s adorable mother helped us out with a little off-camera flash and reflector assistance.  We wrapped up the session at the studio for a nice portrait of T. in her National Guard uniform.  I felt truly honored to capture this special portrait, as she is following in her father’s footsteps in serving our country.

Once all of the photos were polished up and ready for presentation, T. and her mother came to the studio again to see the collection for the first time.  This 24″x36″ custom collage design was a collaborative effort based on some things that T. loves, mixed with favorite images from our session.  We included the lyrics to the song, “God Bless America” as well as a couple of hidden initials within the texture images.  This is the perfect example of how we love to create something truly unique and custom for our clients.   It is on schedule to arrive Monday and I can hardly wait to present it to them!

We have paired it with this 20″x30″ canvas portrait & 8×10 print to be displayed next to her father’s portrait in uniform.

As a photographer, it does my heart good to see photos take their proper place on the walls. It does my heart even more good to see them all grouped together in a collection or a gallery wrapped canvas. This is the perfect solution for those who just can’t decide on “THE ONE” photo that describes their family.

This lovely canvas was designed for a fun, spontaneous family with 4 daughters. We even included a favorite family quote to add that extra personal touch. Our clients invited me to visit their home for a consultation and we were able to determine the size that would work best for their space. I then created the design proof superimposed over a photo of their actual space. Here’s the proof:

We decided that for the space- a family room/ rec room that something with out glass and placed bit higher on the wall would be good. This size is JUST RIGHT, measuring 24″ tall and 48″ wide. The gallery wrap is 1.5″ deep and arrived ready to hang. The canvas is wrapped on a wooden frame built by hand, then coated with a UV protective spray. The finished product has a gorgeous finish and is rather lightweight.

I can’t believe I am finally getting around to ordering MY prints- I couldn’t stand one more day having these images in digital outer-space! I have ordered this “Tilt Signature Collage” as a 24×30 gallery wrapped canvas to hang in my living room, and I just can’t wait!
