Have I mentioned I have the BEST job in the world? Thank you P. & A. for such a memorable experience- I hope you will treasure these images as much as I do.

Congratulations!

P. you are my hero… giving birth un-medicated, I don’t know how you did it! You are such a strong, amazing, dedicated mother, and these images show your unconditional love for your new little addition. I love you my friend!

So excited that Kimberly gave me permission to post these first pics of her brand new baby boy (the newest super baby model for Tilt Photography)!  He weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and measured 20″ in length.  He was born Wednesday evening, and mom and baby are now catching some zzzzz’s at home.

Introducing . . .

[I love it when a newborn yawns and you can feel their tiny backs arch as their entire body seems to move with it!]

[Big brother and sister enjoying some sibling bonding time- H. has got the baby holding thing down, and W. was so careful to remove his shoes before sitting on the hospital bed to sit with the baby. So sweet!]

[Handsome baby D. has some serious skills holding up his little head. He was so sleepy then suddenly he woke up and I was able to capture a ton of images while he just gazed intently around the room while on his mama's shoulder. Check out those amazing eyes!]

[Smooch!]

So glad for the privilege of being able to capture these images at the hospital . . . it is always so amazing to be close to babies when they are so fresh and new.  Photographing new babies is undoubtedly one of the greatest privileges I enjoy as a photographer!!

Kimberly- you truly are a rock star and I am so glad you’re precious son is now here!  This kiddo is going to be so smothered with kisses and adored to pieces by everyone around him.  He’s already got me wrapped around his finger!

Kimberly-
I remember clearly the day (over eight years ago) when we were teaching junior high together and you told me you thought you might be pregnant. I was expecting my first baby at the time, and was so excited for the prospect of both of us becoming mothers that year. You “held down the fort” while ventured off to enjoy my maternity leave- you withstanding the demands of 200 of other peoples’ adolescent children every day while I had the privilege of snuggling with my sweet daughter at home.

Fast forward to today- I type while holding my squirmy one year old on my lap, my three year old is serenading me with the tune of “I’ve Been Workin’ on the Railroad” and my oldest two are in their bedroom patching up a squabble. Kids are ready for lunch, I’m ready for a nap, the dishes are ready to be washed. I’ll admit that though the daily challenges are at times reminiscent of the ol’ days of teaching junior high, I would never trade it for the world. This is life maternal.

For eight years I’ve had the privilege of witnessing your maternal side- watching you love, teach, nurture, play with and cherish your babies. I am in awe of your ability to care for them in such a loving, unselfish way. Your love, courage, passion and determination inspires me. I am so excited that you’ll be welcoming your new sweet baby into this world any day now! What a blessing it is to know how much trust God has placed in us as mothers!

Now I will finally have a chance to “hold down the fort” for you while you take some time for maternity leave. Thank you for all you do for me. Thank you for allowing me to capture you in your “maternal glory.”

Love,
Amy

Photographers call the hour before the sun sets the “Golden Hour.”  During this tiny window (1/24th of the whole day) the light is warm and radiant and is great for skin and eyes and hair and portraits in general.  The sun is low in the sky and not as harsh.  For me, this light is something I can almost taste.  I hate to let a “golden hour” pass me by with out stepping outside at the least, and even better, I’d rather be capturing this light through my lens.  It is just magical.  I use it all up and without my consent the sunlight fades away and nightfall is here to stay.  My husband also loves the “golden hour” because he uses it to gage when I’ll be home from a session. :)

My good friend and fellow photographer Britt and I went out in a quest for golden light and fun locations to celebrate the arrival of her upcoming baby boy.  Combine the prime light and a glowing pregnant mama and I must say these are some of the most radiant photos I’ve ever captured!  Britt is such a natural beauty, and though she’d rather be the photographer than the model, I have a pretty good idea of a backup job in case she ditches the photography thing.  She Having endured a challenging pregnancy she has inspired me with her amazing attitude and humility.  She is just beautiful through and through.

Britt- enjoy the sneak peak!  So excited to meet your baby in less than 2 weeks!!  Yikes!  Thanks for the yummy kneader’s sandwich and peanut butter m&m’s- two of my favorites!  I couldn’t wait to post these . . .

We squeezed this fun maternity session in just in time! This couple welcomed their baby boy just about a week later! We just did his newborn session and I’ll be posting a sneak peak of those soon!  To R & T- I knew it then, and I know it now, you have a truly beautiful family.  Congratulations and I am so glad your sweet baby is here safe and sound!

I love the playful feeling of T & R on the “high key” white background. The simplicity of a white background really makes the subject stand out and T. they were just glowing with excitement for their baby’s upcoming arrival!

The images with the brown faux background hav e certain richness to them, and I love how so many of these images tell a story. I realized while post-processing images that there is a perfect song for every session. I was listening to pandora and the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” sung by Eva Cassidy came on. For me, it just brought the images all together and made me feel emotionally connected to the images. So I urge any of our clients to consider carefully the music they play when they first view their images!! The audio visual combination is very powerful!!

I also love the sleekness of black on black (black shirt/ pants on a black background). Doesn’t she look fabulous?
